Nankishirahama Bansyoyama Park

Wakayama

It's designated as a national park. There are three fantastic observation spots with breathtaking views and nature-rich walking trails. Today, I aim to conquer them all.

The morning air in the park is cool and clear, and the chirping of birds is incredibly soothing.

There are twelve Chinese zodiac animals located within this park. So I'd like to search them all.

1. Tiger (tora)

Looking at you at the entrance.

2. Dog (inu)

Many mushrooms were growing on the statue.

3. Snake (hebi)

A charming snake that turned into a heart shape ♡.

4.Dragon (tatsu)

海から出てきて空に向かっているような姿です。景色が素晴らしい!

5. Rabbit (usagi)

You can see the back side of Engetsu Island.

Curiously, the rabbit had a hat on, but where it got it from remains a mystery.

6.Monkey (saru)

So far, all except for the dragon are parent-child pairs, aren't they?

It's an observation spot. This is probably the highest point in this park. It's above the monkey statue..

It's the Banshohana Lighthouse. It's a small lighthouse of 9 meters high.

7. Boar (Inoshishi)

These are also a parent and child pair. They look weather-beaten and pitiful due to the wind and rain.

8.Horse (uma)

The foal is mini-mini sized.

9.Sheep (Hitsuji)

Each sculpture has a powerful presence in their eyes.

10. Ox (ushi)

It's being protected by the parent.

11.Rat (nezumi)

12. Rooster (tori)

Oh... It seems I missed that one. Where was it?

Searching for the sculptures is also enjoyable, and I think it's a must-visit spot when you go to Nankishirahama. Please find rooster for me!

Staying time here: 1 hour
