A nostalgic taste? Do you remember Torichu’s fried chicken?

Gourmet

Hello, fellow travel lovers!

One day, the conversation suddenly turned to, "Do you remember Torichu’s fried chicken?" Feeling nostalgic, I couldn't resist looking it up.

Then, I found Torichu Sagamino-tei, which wasn’t the same place I had visited before, but had great reviews! I had to check it out!

Reservation & scouting team, deploy!

Since six lively girls were going, we wondered, “Can we reserve a table without ordering a course?” So, the reservation team was sent into action.

Before long, what we received was a photo of fried chicken thighs and beer!?

A surprise scouting mission! How reliable—couldn’t ask for better teammates (lol).

Time to head in!

Weekend lunchtime.

As we stepped inside, I couldn’t help but think, “Wait, is this a Chinese restaurant?” The interior had an Asian-inspired design.

The exotic atmosphere seems like it would be a hit with international visitors!

But the menu was purely Japanese!

Time to dig into a hearty lunch!

🔸 Salad
We ordered two plates of one type from several options. But to our surprise, the portions were way bigger than expected!

Packed with veggies and super healthy! Though, maybe we should have tried different types for variety?

🔸Hearty and generously portioned Tsubomushi.

The photo looks like chawanmushi, but the name says Tsubomushi!? “A pot?” I wondered, but if it catches my attention, I have no choice but to order it!

And what arrived was… a chawanmushi served in a **pot-like bowl**, filled to the brim!

It’s twice the size of a regular chawanmushi, topped with an abundance of luxurious ingredients. The rich dashi flavor gives it a gentle taste, making it a hearty and satisfying dish!

Of course, I finished it all (lol).

🔸 The main dish: Fried Chicken Wings!

This one was also unexpectedly huge!

The crispy fried wings had the perfect amount of salt, and needless to say, they paired amazingly with beer—absolutely delicious!

🔸 Tekka maki, negitoro maki, nigiri, and simmered daikon?

Everything looked delicious, making it hard to decide what to order.

The simmered daikon also caught my eye, but I decided to hold off for now. In the end, no extra order— I was already completely full!

🔸 Dessert goes in a separate stomach!

“We could go for something sweet…” So, we wrapped it up with ice cream!

And this was surprisingly huge—topped with Pocky, wafers, for some reason a castella ball, and a cherry, giving it a totally retro Showa-era vibe. Even though we were stuffed, we somehow managed to finish it!

It was so delicious that we couldn’t resist adding a takeout order of the fried chicken wings!

The fried chicken wings quickly became a favorite! With reasonable prices, generous portions, and flexible reservations, Torichu Sagamino-tei is a place I can confidently recommend for any gathering!
