Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building

Tokyo

Hello!

Today, I’d like to introduce you to one of Tokyo’s hidden gems: the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. You might be thinking, “Wait, the government building?” But actually, this place is a surprisingly fun tourist spot!

Enjoy a sky-high view of Tokyo!

The 45th-floor observation deck is a must-see, offering stunning views. On clear days, you might even spot Mt. Fuji. Best of all, it’s free!

The elevator ride to the observation deck feels like a roller coaster, shooting you up to the 45th floor, 202 meters above ground, in just about 60 seconds. It’s an exhilarating start to your visit!

From above, you can gaze down at Shinjuku Park Tower and Tokyo Opera City.

The view is stunning!

Surprisingly fun! How to enjoy the observation floor

The observation floor isn’t just about the view. There’s also a souvenir shop and a café. Hunting for Tokyo-exclusive items is fun, and enjoying a coffee while taking in the stunning view is a special treat.

“Japaaaaan!” You’ll feel like singing along! With its quirky name and mysterious appearance, Japen is quite the character!

The epitome of Japan! These stylish Daruma dolls come with a price tag to match their coolness!

A collection of attractions from all over Japan!?

On the first floor, there’s actually a “National Tourism PR Corner,” where you can find information on all 47 prefectures. It’s like taking a trip around Japan without leaving Tokyo! It’s also a great spot to get inspiration for your next travel destination.

There’s an interesting brochure introducing the charms of Shibuya’s public baths, along with bath etiquette tips for foreigners!

I definitely hope everyone follows the etiquette and enjoys Japan’s public baths!

Bonus: A must-see for architecture enthusiasts!

For architecture lovers, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building itself is a highlight. Designed by one of Japan’s most renowned architects, Kenzo Tange, its modern exterior is breathtaking. Tange also designed iconic buildings like the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, the National Yoyogi Stadium, and the Fuji TV Headquarters.
