A Unique Nepalese Curry at a Steakhouse!? STEAK DINER YABE Report

Gourmet

Hello, fellow travel lovers!

This time, here’s a lunch report from "STEAK DINER YABE," a steakhouse I found in Sagamihara!

I couldn’t resist stopping by when I saw a sign for “Authentic Indian Curry” outside a steakhouse, of all places.

...but to my surprise, the menu listed it as "Nepalese Curry"!

Wait, isn’t it supposed to be Indian? Oh well, let’s not sweat the details and give it a try!

Excitement in the Air: The Irresistible Aroma of Steak Fills the Restaurant

The moment I stepped in, the walls seemed infused with the mouthwatering scent of steak, making my stomach growl!

The interior has an American cowboy vibe, radiating a bold, rugged charm.

The tables and chairs have a bit of a sticky feel… but hey, it’s a steak joint—let’s embrace the wild vibe!

Starting off with a cozy salad and soup, plus a tangy surprise—sweet and sour cabbage!

First up, the chilled salad! It was crisp and fresh—I finished it in no time the moment it arrived.

Then, unexpectedly, a comforting soup and tangy sweet-and-sour cabbage appeared! This pleasant surprise lifted my spirits right from the start.

I devoured these too before the curry even arrived. Just how hungry am I!?

The order, of course, had to be steak + curry

My Choice: Specialty Curry with a Steak Topping

First bite—the steak topping. It’s aromatic, tender, and absolutely fantastic! This is the quality you’d expect from a steakhouse.

But as for the specialty curry… it was more of a “thin, spicy broth.” The spices were there, but it could use a bit more richness! It went down so smoothly it felt like I was drinking it, leaving me with a sense that something was missing.

I ordered naan to go along with the Nepalese chicken curry.

The server, a cheerful Nepalese person, gave me hope that I was in for an authentic Nepalese curry experience!

Or so I thought—but again, it could use a bit more depth. It lacked the richness of slowly simmered vegetables, coming across more like a quick, roux-based curry.

I’m on the fence about repeating the curry, but next time, I’ll be back to fully enjoy their hearty steak!

Honestly, the curry is a bit of a toss-up for a repeat, but if I’m craving a hearty steak, I’d definitely give this place another go!

If you’re into the wild and rugged vibe, give "STEAK DINER YABE" a try!

The journey continues... Wishing you all a wonderful trip!Tabijun
