Enjoy the Local Delights at Roadside Station Hiraizumi!

Iwate

Hello, fellow travel lovers!

Today, I’m introducing "Roadside Station Hiraizumi" in the historic town of Hiraizumi. This roadside station offers a variety of local products and souvenirs, making it a must-visit spot during your sightseeing trip.

Local Sake and Large Locally-Grown Bamboo Shoots!

First, I bought some local sake. Tasting local sake is one of the true joys of traveling.

With a fruity aroma and smooth taste reminiscent of fruit wine, this sake is so sweet and refreshing that you wouldn’t even think it’s Japanese sake.

Next, what caught my eye was the large locally-grown bamboo shoot! It was so impressive that I couldn’t resist taking a picture.

Bringing home fresh local ingredients to enjoy later is also a great idea.

The local specialty dango looks delicious!

Speaking of Roadside Station Hiraizumi’s specialties, the dango loved by the locals is a must-try. It looks delicious just at first glance.

It’s a treat you should definitely try at least once when you visit Hiraizumi.

Boost Your Health with Hiraizumi’s Century-Old Tea

I also purchased "Century-Old Tea," which is a traditional product of Hiraizumi. This tea allows you to enjoy the local flavors and is perfect for those moments when you want to take a relaxing break. It was sold in large stacks, and it’s packed with ingredients that seem great for your health.

It can also be used as a parking lot for the Muryokoin Ruins

Muryokoin, said to be modeled after Kyoto's Byodoin Phoenix Hall.

Although the splendor of the past can no longer be seen, walking through the site while feeling the echoes of history makes it a must-visit as part of any Hiraizumi tour.

You can park at the roadside station and walk about 10 minutes to reach the site. However, if you zoom in on Google Maps, you’ll notice there’s a small parking area nearby with space for a few cars. Naturally, I chose to park there.

The journey continues... Wishing you all a wonderful trip! – TabiJun
