Hello, fellow travel lovers!
This time, I visited Mizunomori Park in Sendai City 🌳
You’d think, with a name like that, it’d be a stylish lakeside stroll, right?
But surprise, surprise! What I experienced was a little different… no, actually, *very* different from what I imagined (lol).
It all began with a beautiful view of the water...
As you start walking from the parking lot, the neatly maintained meadow and open sky instantly raise your expectations.
The fresh, grassy landscape fills you with excitement♪
And sure enough, there it was—a stunning view of the water.
Then, by the water, I happened to glance over and—what do you know! A little bird was carrying a big branch in its beak. Building a nest, maybe!?
Can you spot it?It’s in the photo—see if you can find it! 😊
The name “Mizunomori” (Water Forest) really does live up to the hype!
…but that didn’t last long. Before I knew it, the path led deep into the woods. The water view? Just at the start. After that—forest, forest, and more forest!
This time, I took a loop route starting with the East Circuit (about 1.46 km) and connecting to the West Circuit (about 1.73 km), for a total distance of around 3.2 km.
That alone is a decent walk, but I ended up taking a wrong turn along the way—so add a little bonus “getting lost” time on top of that… (lol)
A pre-opening warm-up before visiting Sendai Kannon!
I actually had some time before the Great Sendai Kannon opened, so I dropped by the park for a little “sweat-it-out strategy” warm-up.
“Just a little”… right? 😅
The result? Soaked in sweat (lol).
Before I knew it, it had turned into a full-on cardio workout 💦
With occasional light rain, plus all the humidity and sweat, I was feeling pretty damp—but I kept telling myself, “This is a mission!” and somehow made it to the end!
The hidden theme of this outing was “Let’s work up an appetite and enjoy a delicious meal!” so…
On that front, mission accomplished!
Quick Tips & Warnings 📝
Mizunomori Park is actually well-known as a nature-rich campsite, too.
But—no shops, no vending machines… it’s a legit forest!
When you visit...
✅ Bring your own drinks beforehand!
✅ Sneakers or trekking shoes highly recommended!
✅ Think of it not as a light stroll, but a “light hike”!
✅ Bug repellent is also a good idea for peace of mind!
For photo spots, the lake view near the beginning is the most Instagram-worthy 📸
After that… it’s green, green, and more green! (lol)
