Hello, fellow travel lovers!
This time, I visited the Toyama Glass Art Museum in central Toyama City.
It is about a 12-minute ride from Toyama Station by city tram.
And honestly, riding the tram itself already feels like part of the sightseeing.

The museum was also very close to where we stayed, “Tennen Onsen Tsurugi no Yu Onyado Nono Toyama” — about a 5-minute walk, roughly 270 meters.
It was a very convenient place to stop by before or after checking into the hotel.
A Stylish Building Shared with the City Library
The Toyama Glass Art Museum is part of a stylish complex that also houses the Toyama City Library.

Even the entrance already feels a little different from an ordinary museum.

Step inside, and a huge open atrium spreads out in front of you.

Layers of wooden panels overlap throughout the space, creating a dramatic and unusual atmosphere.
Depending on the angle…
it almost looks like a giant bagworm cocoon.(笑)
But somehow, it still looks very cool.
The Library Is Open and Spacious Too
The city library is also located inside the building.

The floors wrap around the atrium, making the whole place feel very open and airy.
Even if you are not visiting just for the museum, simply walking through the building is fun.
Up to the Glass Art on the 6th Floor
Our main destination was the glass art area on the 6th floor.
Looking down from above, you can really appreciate the structure of the building.

Then we entered the exhibition area.
Light, black backgrounds, vivid colors.
Combined with the transparency of glass, the displays were incredibly atmospheric and beautiful.
It was even more impressive than I had expected.
Buy Your Ticket on the 1st Floor First!
One important tip.
After making it all the way up to the 6th floor, we thought,
“Okay, let’s buy our tickets here.”
But…
You can’t buy them on this floor.
Tickets are sold at the ticket counter on the 1st floor.
So yes, we had to go all the way back down.
If you are visiting, make sure to buy your ticket on the 1st floor before heading upstairs!
And if you have come this far, I definitely recommend seeing the exhibition.
Photography Is Allowed, but SNS Posting Is Not
In the glass art exhibition area, photography was allowed, but posting those photos on social media was prohibited.
This rule applied to all of the displays in that area.
So I am not sharing any photos of the actual glass artworks here.
The official website does show a few images, so if you are curious, take a look there.

The real exhibition is much more magical than photos can capture anyway.
This is one of those places that is best experienced in person.
A Quick Break at the Cafe
Since we were there, we decided to take a short break at the cafe inside.

Outside, the sky was beautifully blue.
Or perhaps I should say…it looked exactly like a hot summer day.
After cooling down inside, it was time to head back to the hotel.
Our hotel, Onyado Nono Toyama, was only about a 5-minute walk away.
Time for a bath!
A Great Stop for Sightseeing Around Toyama Station
The Toyama Glass Art Museum is easy to reach by tram from Toyama Station, and the building itself is part of the attraction.
It is also convenient if you want to add one more sightseeing stop before or after your hotel stay.
The glass artworks are impressive, but the atrium, library, and overall architecture are worth seeing too.
If you are staying in Toyama before or after a trip to the mountains, this is an easy and enjoyable place to add to your itinerary.
The journey continues... Wishing you all a wonderful trip!
