Hello, fellow travel lovers!
After exploring the pyramids in the Ancient Egypt VR experience, I was totally hyped…
So naturally, I thought, “I have to wrap this up with some Egyptian food!” (lol)
So off I went to Carvaan Delicatessen, a Middle Eastern deli located in the basement of Yokohama Takashimaya!
Actually, Carvaan Delicatessen is a sister shop of the well-known Carvaan Bay Yokohama, a full-scale Middle Eastern restaurant. If you have more time, I definitely recommend heading there for a relaxed course meal.
This time, I went with the “save energy & quick route” for a casual taste of the exotic. ✨
(Oh, and by the way—I’m heading to Italy right after this, haha. I’ll share that in my next blog ✈️)
A deli counter filled with the aromas of faraway lands 🍽
Lined up along the counter were dishes I’d never seen before!
The aroma of spices and the Middle Eastern-style display instantly put me in full-on travel mode.
Even just reading the menu had me going, “Wait, what’s that!?” — it felt like the start of a culinary adventure (lol).
The 6-item customizable plate
With the 6-item plate, you get to choose 3 main dishes and 3 dips.
But honestly... I couldn’t help wondering, what exactly are the dips supposed to go with?
No bread or veggie sticks came with it, huh? So this time, I just treated the dips as beer snacks. 🍺
→ To be honest, the flavors were a bit intense on their own! Some veggie sticks or corn chips would’ve been perfect.
The wrap sandwich was a total win 🌯✨
My favorite this time? Hands down, the lamb wrap sandwich!
Juicy lamb, a refreshing sauce, and that soft, chewy wrap—everything was spot on.
It was so good, I’d definitely go back for it. And if you're not into meat, they also had chicken and veggie wraps to choose from!
And for drinks, I went with a Middle Eastern beer. 🍺
The labels were all unfamiliar, which made it even more exciting…
Among them, the lime-flavored beer was especially refreshing—crisp, light, and a perfect match for the spiced dishes!
A bite-sized journey to match the lingering vibes of Ancient Egypt 🌍
Still riding the high from walking through the pyramids in the Egypt VR experience,
getting to continue the “journey” through food was absolutely the best!
Even if I can’t make it to the real Egypt, experiencing another world through VR and wrapping it up with exotic food made for a perfect little adventure.
