First, take a leap through time at the entrance!
This is the gateway to ancient Egypt!
Once inside, the first stop is the theater room.
Tutankhamun's life is brought to life through projection mapping, instantly immersing you in the atmosphere of ancient Egypt.
And then, the walls are lined with detailed exhibit explanations. Speaking of 3000 BC...
"That was when Japan was in the Jomon period, hunting for game, right?"
In that era, there were treasures of gold and silver, and dazzling ornaments! There’s even a surprising story about a king who died of diabetes.
It’s impressive that modern scholars can analyze diseases 5,000 years later, but I can’t help secretly wondering—was it the work of aliens? (Haha.)
Anubis makes an appearance! Is it a dog? A rabbit? Or maybe a fox?
After leaving the theater room, take the elevator to the Queen's tomb!
Welcoming us is Anubis, the messenger of ancient Egypt! A guide dog for the dead?
The sleek, pointed ears look a bit like a rabbit's 🐰.
The long tail resembles that of a fox 🦊.
But overall, it’s a dog... utterly mysterious.
The royal throne, a symbol of ancient Egypt's overwhelming majesty.
In front of the golden throne, the staff held by the king is also faithfully recreated.
And astonishingly, the stone beneath the sandals features images of enemies being trampled!
"By trampling them, the king demonstrates his power" — a true symbol of ancient authority.
Together with the intricately detailed throne, this exhibit truly conveys the majesty of the king.
Furthermore, the lion-shaped legs of the throne and the artwork on its backrest are said to carry profound meanings.
This was explained in detail on the red panel displayed earlier.
I should’ve read it more carefully! (Haha)
The golden shrine, an extravagantly lavish ancient coffin.
The dazzling golden shrine—believe it or not, this is also part of the coffin! Its quality and presence are so incredible, you can’t help but wonder, *was this really made in ancient times?*
The main highlight, the statue of Tutankhamun, makes its grand appearance!
Oh, this is a familiar face!
You can get up close and take photos, so even a two-shot with King Tut himself is possible (lol).
The goddess guarding the Canopic jars, with her mystical outstretched arms
This is a statue of the goddess who guards the Canopic jars, created to hold Tutankhamun's organs.
Her arms are powerfully outstretched, as if embracing and protecting the shrine.
Additionally, in the mummy reproduction exhibit, the inner treasures found within the four layers are faithfully recreated, offering a captivating display. Seeing treasures from 5,000 years ago like this in the modern age is nothing short of pure romance!
In preparation for the Year of the Snake, here is the golden "auspicious snake"
Speaking of which, next year is the Year of the Snake! I found it—a golden snake. I quickly snapped a photo of its auspicious form.
It looks like it might be poisonous, so I won’t touch it (lol). Wishing for good health and a wonderful year ahead!
Let’s play the role of an explorer!
Inside the exhibit, there’s a perfect photo spot where you can become a true explorer! Be sure to capture your best shot. As for the TabiJun exploration team, we were hilariously out of place in our winter clothes—not exactly fitting for Egypt (lol).
The information panels on the walls are filled with exotic charm, making it feel like you’ve truly come to explore ancient ruins.
Summary: The Endless Mysteries of Egypt
The more you learn about ancient Egypt, the more it becomes shrouded in mystery.
"How did they create something like this? Without any heavy machinery?"
By the end, the "alien theory" keeps echoing in my mind (lol).
Embark on a timeless adventure at Yokohama Minato Mirai—be sure to experience it for yourself!
The journey continues... Wishing you all a wonderful trip! – TabiJun
