This time, let me introduce you to the towering Sendai Daikannon — a giant statue that suddenly appears in the middle of a quiet residential area in Sendai!
This spot has gone viral on social media with comments like “Total final boss vibes” and “I looked up so much my neck hurts!” But what’s it really like?
I went to see for myself… and yep, it was absolutely epic!
First up—bam! The view from behind!
Following the GPS led me straight to the back of the Kannon statue.
Wait, this isn’t the entrance!? I looked up anyway, and…
Even from behind, the presence is overwhelming… The fire truck nearby looked like a toy car! (lol)
From the side too… it’s huge!
A short walk to the side, and its presence felt even more intense.
Careful not to tip over when you look up!
Finally made it to the front!
After circling around, I finally arrived at the front.
The front entrance is shaped like a dragon’s mouth—kind of thrilling, to be honest…
The inner tour starts here! Grab your ticket and head inside.
Step inside and—wait, is that... a giant X-ray!?
Right at the entrance, there’s a massive cross-sectional model of the Kannon on display.
At this point… it totally looks like Kannon’s health checkup! (lol)
Say hello to the Nio guardians as you spiral up the corridor.
First, you wind your way through a spiraling hallway.
Lining both sides are rows of fierce and powerful Nio guardians.
Some of their faces are honestly a bit scary… and that’s when the spiritual training begins.
Take the elevator straight to the top floor—let's go!

The top floor (12th) is a sacred space called the Goshinden—considered the “heart” of the Kannon statue.
Right in the center stands a dazzling golden dragon—bold and majestic!
It might even outshine the Buddha statues!? The impact was unreal—full-on final boss vibes! (lol)
From there, the tour continues down the stairs as you explore each floor one by one.

Peering up the spiral staircase from below feels straight out of a sci-fi movie. The dim lighting adds just the right mood—120% mystical.
