Thrilling Onsen Experience at Nanki Shirahama Saki-no-Yu! A Stunning Hot Spring United with the Sea ♨

Spa

Hello, fellow travel lovers!

This time, I’ll be sharing a slightly thrilling hot spring experience at Saki-no-Yu in Nanki Shirahama.

Saki-no-Yu is a hot spring that feels as if it’s one with the sea.

This stunning hot spring features three baths lined up facing the sea.

Of course, cameras are not allowed, so I’ve borrowed a photo from the Tourism Association’s website.

It's a hot spring where you can relax while gazing at the sea, but on this day, there was a strong wind...!

The changing room is located just before the baths in this photo, and I quickly put my clothes into the locker to keep them from being blown away.

First, I rinsed off with some water and got into the middle bath... it was lukewarm!

It seems the temperature had dropped due to the strong wind. The bath at the very front was also closed off.

In the perfectly warm upper bath, as I was relaxing and gazing at the sea with another guest, a staff member in rubber boots came over to check the water temperature.

Although waves were coming in, the staff removed the 'No Entry' sign and said, 'Feel free to go in if you'd like.

The other guest was a cheerful lady visiting from China, and we had a smooth conversation in English.

After telling her about it, we both moved to the bath that had been off-limits, but... it wasn’t just lukewarm, it was practically water!

At that moment, a big wave hit us due to the strong wind—so cold!

And then, seaweed wrapped around my fingers... it felt like we were practically in the ocean (lol).

It got too cold for me, so I retreated to the warm bath by myself.

The lady held on for a while, but I wonder if she managed to endure the strong winds and high waves.

It was windy, but the weather was clear. The building on the left side of this photo is the women’s bath.

Later, I ran into the lady twice at different locations, and each time she smiled and waved, which made me feel happy.

Hope she continue to enjoy her time in Japan!

I stayed for about 30 minutes, but the hot spring experience, feeling one with nature, was quite thrilling!

If you’re someone who wants to enjoy a hot spring swaying with the waves, be sure to give it a try!"

The journey continues... Wishing you all a wonderful trip! – TabiJun
