This time, I’ll introduce Engetsu Island, a famous spot in Nanki Shirahama!
First, the official name of Engetsu Island is Takashima.
The island’s most distinctive feature is the hole in the center, which looks just like the moon!
This is the origin of the name 'Engetsu Island.
I visited on a windy, cloudy day, but the scenery was still impressive. In the end, nature's power is truly awe-inspiring.
This spot has even been selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Sunsets. In spring and autumn, there's a moment when the sun fits perfectly into the hole, making it a true scenic spot. Be sure to visit and catch this beautiful moment!
By the way, the roadside drive-in was unfortunately closed, but the parking lot was available, so access by car was no problem!
Next time, I’d love to come back on a sunny day for a perfect experience!
