Hello, fellow travel lovers!
This time, I decided to try Wakayama ramen, a dish that’s not so familiar to me as someone living in the Kanto region!
It seems to be a local specialty from the Wakayama City area in Wakayama Prefecture.
Drawn in by the delicious-looking ramen banners, I stepped into the chic, black-themed restaurant called "Ramen Bakumatsu!
The first thing that caught my eye was the large "RAMEN" sign, along with the cute ramen pictogram 🍜—perfect for welcoming international visitors!
Now, onto the main event—the ramen! It’s a rich bowl with authentic tonkotsu broth blended with tamari soy sauce for a deep, flavorful taste.
The homemade, slightly thin straight noodles pair perfectly with the broth, making each bite delicious!
This is the ginger ramen, packed with plenty of golden ginger from Kochi Prefecture.
This time, I tried both the Wakayama ramen and the ginger ramen, but personally, I found the ginger ramen to be more delicious! (I love ginger! ♡)
The gentle hint of ginger flavor really came through, making it a warm and comforting bowl.
I realized later that you could choose the firmness of the noodles from very soft, soft, slightly soft, slightly firm, firm, to very firm. 💦
However, the "slightly firm" noodles that came by default were just the right texture for me, and I enjoyed them till the last bite.
As I looked through the menu, I was surprised to see options like spicy ramen, carbonara ramen, and even Genovese ramen... Is this an Italian restaurant?! Quite a surprising lineup!
I encourage you all to give these local ramen varieties a try as well!
